I met Mariyah a year ago. I understood very quickly that she was a demanding photographer and fashion blogger. She is assertive, confident and doesn't compromise, but she's also very sweet. I like her professionalism and perfectionism. She has a casual tomboyish style that's easily identifiable. You will never see her without her shades and despite her active days and urban style, she is able to run the streets of Dubai in heels if she needs to!

HOB: If you could live in a painting, which one would it be?
M.G.: I would love to be in one of Picasso's masterpieces... his paintings are rather interestingly weird and it takes time to appreciate them sometimes. I'm a bit like that. I think.
HOB: If you could live in a different era, which one would you pick and why?
M.G.: Definitely the 70s. I was born in the 70s and absolutely love the turn of fashion back then.
HOB: What piece of clothing reminds you of your mother/father?
M.G.: The mod dress reminds me so much of my mom, I saw photographs of her when she was younger and she used to wear a ton of those, seriously funky and cute pieces.
HOB: What scent takes you right back to your childhood?
M.G.: A cologne called "Angel's Breath". To this day, I still wear it to remind myself of the good old days when I was still so very innocent.
HOB: When do you feel on holidays?
M.G.: When I see people walking around me that are all tanned out.
HOB: What designer would you take with you on a camel ride?
M.G.: Definitely the duo behind Dolce and Gabbana. I just adore them.
HOB: Your favourite recipe to make?
M.G.: I dont really cook but if ever I do, it would probably be spaghetti bolognese... It's actually a personal favorite of mine.
HOB: Best piece of advice you were ever given?
M.G.: To never give up on my dream... Because I'm the only one who can make them happen.
HOB: What book changed your life?
M.G.: "To kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee... I know it's weird but it was the very first book that I read when I was a kid, that got me into reading in the first place. I still have the book and plan to pass it on to my kids when I get a chance.
HOB: The movie you've watched already 30 times but might watch again tonight?
M.G.: "50 first dates"... I'm a hopeless romantic and I would love to find someone who will make me fall in love with him again and again, every single day.
HOB: Three favourite spots in Dubai?
1- Dubai Mall.
2- The creek.
3- JBR (minus the traffic).
