"You're getting to be a Habit with Me" by Bebe Daniels - 1933
And talking about Vuitton, I completely fell for their new Windows. I love the Ostrich Idea!
Fun, simple and very creative, bravo to their Merchandising team!

Last week I attended the cocktail Vuitton hosted to present it's new window: a piece of art by Nadim Karam. The lebanese artist has been collaborating with Vuitton for a year now. He got involved with the famous Fashion House when they decided to create the first Family Room ever in a luxury shop. The result was presented in March 2011, was and still is impressiv. The artist worked with kids to create a joyful, and chic piece of art called the "Travelling Elephant" which is made up of 12 individual canvasses worked on by each child that come together to produce one final and emotional piece.
Lately, the Artist ran an other project with Children based on Sweets and Pastries, and his last collaboration can be seen in the Vuitton Windows at the Mall of Emirates and is a piece of art evoking his Chidhood Souvenirs.
I can somehow relate to this piece: it reminds me of the kitsch Children Books my Grandparents used to read us in the 80's, in the South of France.

In the Streets of the Old Fabric Soukh...
I went shopping for Oriental Slippers (so 50's) with an american Lady wearing Louboutin Ballerinas.
I am pretty sure it was the first time ever Louboutin had set foot on the old Bastakiyah Soukh in Dubai!

So to begin with: the Abu Dhabi Art Fair!
I went to the opening night on Wednesday. I am always very impressed by the variety and quality of the art: Basquiat, Louise Bourgeois, Jemimah Patterson, but also Fateh Moudarres and Chafic Abboud... Such a good mix!
I have to admit I was pretty surprised by a few bold pieces of fashion art: a bullet dress, a chastity belt... I didn't think the UAE would be able to display such daring pieces. Not so surprised though when I discovered that the Sawa Gallery showing these pieces was partly run by a lovely lebanese lady. Who else than a lebanese woman to be that fearless? Loved it.
It is open until tomorrow so if you are in the UAE, go have a look!

Sorry for the silence these days, I have been running a lot lately. But I am back, and so happy to catch up!
The old Soukh, a shooting, Vu restaurant... So many things!
Also went to my first Cricket Match! A dutch guy trying to explain the rules of an english game to an american and a french lady, while watching a Pakistan vs Sri Lanka match, in Dubai! We definitively didn't make it easy for him. Not quite the Vintage Classic All White Cricket, more international and rock'n roll!

That was a FUN week-end! I finally stayed in Dubai: partying, watching the rain fall down, baking, and playing hide and seek with the clouds!

The Ladies of the Middle East will know that today is the beginning for a long week-end thanks to Eid: 2 days of week-end, 2 bank holidays, 4 days of Bliss. The one thing missing in that small Holiday, is Anticipation. Because Islam follows the Moon Calendar, the big Event are always likely to change date last minute, which means that the whole Nation is waiting for the news to be published... well, more or less the day before. We all know when it will be but Companies like to be sure before they say anything to their Employees. And there goes my Trip to Nepal... too late, and all booked. Oh well, let's say it makes the everyday more tricky and fun! Last minute adventure? Yes please!
I will let you know where I am going as soon as I know it myself.
In the same time, here are a few Pictures of the Week-End we spent on a Dhow in Oman for C.' Birthday. Some snorkling, fishing, jumping from the roof of the Dhow and fancy dresses were involved... Thank you so much C., that was an amazing week-end!
Mmmmh, now one last thing... Next time I announce that I am going on a Boat, could you please remember me that I am seasick? I tend to forget that little detail... Next step: a benchmarck of all the pills on the market, Pill Party, yay!

The Artists of the Opera Bastille.
That night I was Mephisto's cousin, was fascinated by G.'s gesture as an Orchestra Conductor and got kissed by the Director of this Faust... Quite a surprising Evening!
